What could be better than a relaxing yoga session in the beauty of the Vermont outdoors! Healthy exploring among the hills and views of Woodstock will be what you experience when you take a yoga hike. Our neighbor, “Miss Amanda” Anderson of Inner Life Yoga, has created an activity that blends fresh Vermont air and spectacular landscapes with the principles of yoga. Having taught yoga for nearly ten years now, Miss Amanda trained in Italy to teach Vinyasa Flow Yoga and has studied meditation as well.
Each Saturday morning throughout the summer and early fall, she embarks on a two-hour trek on Mt. Peg here in Woodstock and every 3rd Tuesday, she does the same at Quechee Gorge. Other specially-themed yoga hikes are scheduled throughout the summer in nearby towns too. The cost per person for a two-hour hike is $20. As Miss Amanda’s website states, “…The Yoga Hike begins with stretches at the trailhead and a few moments of reflection. Then we hike using simple yogic principles of movement with scenic stops for “Yoga Breaks.” After hiking, we use yoga to cool down and rest. To deepen the experience, we incorporate periods of silence into our hike…”. . Never done yoga? No problem. You are in control of how much you push and how much you skip. Just walk and breathe at your own pace, try the poses and stretches when you want to! Or, Miss Amanda does schedule “Uplevel” hikes at times if you feel you need a bit more of an advanced level. She is also happy to arrange time for groups if you are traveling with family and/or friends.
We would love to connect you with Miss Amanda for more information or to arrange for you to join in on the fun that a yoga hike will create. Visit her website – www.yogahikesvt.com – or her Facebook page to learn more about this fabulous way to spend time in Woodstock!
