Where to See Vermont Fall Foliage in Woodstock
Vermont fall foliage is a veritable feast for the senses, filled with plenty to see, taste, and smell – and plenty of intangible delights to fill in the gaps along the way. Though Vermont is filled with charming Norman Rockwell-esque villages around just about every bend, none are more beautiful nor charming than Woodstock.
With scenic charm around every corner, we have no doubt you’ll enjoy a fall getaway to the charming village of Woodstock. It’s a town filled with unbeatable natural beauty, year-round recreation and entertainment, great food, and plenty to offer. In fact, we think a getaway to Woodstock leaves very little to be desired – especially when it includes a stay at our Woodstock, VT Bed and Breakfast. Below, we’ve listed a few of our favorite ways to enjoy the colorful Vermont fall foliage in and around Woodstock.
- Who doesn’t love scenic drives through tunnels of the most spectacular Vermont fall foliage? One of our favorite fall drives is Vermont’s newest scenic byway, The Crossroad of Vermont, which follows US Route 4.
- Some great hikes in the Woodstock area offer gorgeous birds-eye views of town under the vibrant glow of Vermont fall foliage. We recommend heading to the popular Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park, the only National Park in Vermont. Our favorite hike here is the Pogue/Mt. Tom loop, which is 4.2 miles long.
- There’s never a better time than fall to walk through the treetops at the Vermont Institute of Natural Science in nearby Quechee.
- While you’re in Quechee, don’t miss the chance to hike the Quechee Gorge Trail along the river and, of course, take in the view from the Quechee Bridge.
- One of the most popular scenes in Woodstock is the quaint covered bridges surrounded by the glow of Vermont fall foliage. There are (at least) ten covered bridges within easy reach of Woodstock, including the Middle Covered Bridge in downtown Woodstock.
- We love a good fall picnic – and there are plenty of places to enjoy them in town. But how about a picnic with a view? Head to the top of Mount Peg and enjoy a picnic overlooking the majestic beauty of Vermont in the fall. You can pick up exactly what you need at the nearby Woodstock Farmers Market.
- Vermont’s popular ski resorts aren’t just reserved for the winter. There’s excellent mountain biking, hiking, and more at places like the Saskadena Six. These activities are even more spectacular when Vermont fall foliage starts to appear!
- Head to Sugarbush Farm, where tasty fall treats are in order, and pair perfectly with their scenic country views, complete with its beautiful chapel in the woods.
