Come to Woodstock’s Newest Green Hotel

July 26th, 2011 by Kathy Terwelp

Exciting news for The Jackson House Inn!  We are proud to have been awarded Green Hotel status in Vermont in recognition of our ongoing commitment to conservation and protection of the environment.  In addition to being a completely smoke-free inn and property, we take our responsibility for offering a healthy environment very seriously.  Organic Vermont Coffee Company coffee and a delicious assortment of organic and herbal teas provide the perfect start on the porch, the patio or in a cozy chair.  Rick shops daily to access the freshest, locally-sourced breakfast ingredients available with an emphasis on organic options.  Only natural oils are used in our amenities and fresh scents from soy-based candles linger through the public spaces.  In addition to our efforts to increase recycling and reuse, our guests’ attention to recycling of products and conservation of our precious water and electrical supply is truly appreciated.  Careful selection of linens and cleaning products contribute to comfort at every turn. A special thank you to Peter Crawford and the VT Small Business Development Center for their support.

And, while we’re talking green – thank you to Boston Magazine for recommending our inn as part of their summer travel guide.  Their description of Vermont is perfect – “…where God goes on vacation…the crowds are nowhere in sight…the farms come into their own…the mountains…erupt in the entire spectrum of green…”  Come join us!

Visit the Jackson House Pond in July

Relax at The Jackson House Inn pond

Summer in Woodstock offers so many activities and attractions.  As the heat of summer continues, we say goodbye to July with two outstanding events.  The Jackson House Inn is the perfect place to add relaxation and serenity to a weekend visit.

Bookstock 2011 – The Green Mountain Festival of Words – takes center stage in Woodstock, Vermont from July 29 – 31.  Over 30 renowned New England authors and poets will be on hand to share their work and present workshops.  Shop a fabulous book sale and enjoy food and music on Woodstock’s Village Green.

And – step across the street from The Jackson House Inn to Union Arena on Saturday and Sunday for the 37th Annual Vermont Antiques Dealers’ Show.  Browse room settings of the finest antiques  from respected dealers in the Green Mountain State.  Fine jewelry, silver and glassware will be highlighted as well.

Mention one of these two events in your reservation request for a stay with us (which can be completed online through our website or on the phone) and receive a 5% discount for your stay.
