So, what is wassail?  The term comes from Medieval England, the Norse phrase “ves heill” meaning to “drink to the health.”  The warm drink “wassail” began as an ale which is brewed with spiced apples and sugar (or other tasty combinations…).  The tradition grew from singers traveling from house-to-house during the Solstice and then became embraced by many as an early Christmas celebration.  Many versions of the festive drink will be sampled in the local restaurants, shops and homes!

A few rooms remain at The Jackson House Inn for you to experience a special beginning to the holiday season in Woodstock, Vermont.
